This week I will be getting into the holiday spirit and I’ll be reviewing a few Christmas/winter beers. So here we go:
Southern Tier Brewing Co Lakewood, NY
Sips (out of 5): 3.5
This is another good beer from Southern Tier. It is a good, strong, hoppy beer that should help anyone get through the holidays. It is only available through the holidays so if you want to try it hurry to find it.
Fegley’s Brewworks Allentown, PA
Bitterness (IBU): 25 low
This is what a Christmas/ winter beer should be. It is a wonderfully spiced ale that is not too spicy but has a great kick. I will go out on a limb and say that this is one of, if not the best Christmas/winter beer out there. This is the type of beer that Sam Adams Winter Lager wishes it was. It is also only available through the holidays so hurry and try it soon.
Port Brewing Co San Marcos, CA
This is an awesome beer, I loved it from my first sip. Not only is this a great Christmas beer, it is a great imperial stout. It has a tremendous spicy, smokey flavor that hits just the right notes. This is definitely a beer that should help anyone get through the holidays. It is available through the early part of winter, but has a limited release so hurry to try it.
Sly Fox Brewing Co Phoenixville, PA
Bitterness (IBU): 15 low
This is a good Christmas ale that is red in color, which makes it so much more festive. As the bottle says it is brewed with a host of spices, none of which are overdone. It is a smooth tasting beer with just the right amount of a kick, that I would recommend trying, or since it has a gift tag on it already you could give it away too. It is available through the holidays so hurry to try it.
